Southern Highroad Trails March 22-23,2009

The Southern Highroads is a scenic route across 13 counties, in 4 states, TN, NC, SC, GA. The trail is a 364-mile loop across the Appaiachian Mountains that winds through national forests and some of the most beautiful scenery. The sign below was all along the roads. It kept us on track.
We started our venture Sunday morning, March 22. We had breakfast at the IHop in Cleveland. Troy and Jan's, daugher-Ashley lives there going to college. So we made a pitstop at there house last night.

We took Hwy 64 East out of Cleveland. We saw this site pretty quick. It was awesome the picture does not capture the river sound. This is the Ocoee River.

Passing thru Ducktown and Copperhill TN staying on Hwy 64. Crossing into North Carolina.

At the top of the Rock mountain, we could see pretty far. Brasstown Bald is Georgia's Highest Mountain. 4,784 feet.

We stopped to enjoy the site and listen to the quite sounds of nothing. We enjoyed talking about how good God was to us and how he blesses us.

We got off the truck route and started a slow but exciting route thru the mountains.

Cullasajo Falls 11 miles east of Franklin, about took our breath. We couldn't hardly pull over on the road....but had too!

This is a shot of Bridal Veil Falls located in the same area.

We stopped for lunch in Franklin and for ice cream in a little town of Highland before crossing over into South Carolina on Hwy 101 and 28 to Westminster.

In Westminster we took Hwy 123 west and Hwy 76 , stopping the night in Hiswassee, GA. The pics below are taken in GA.

We traveled thru Blairsville and Blue Ridge. In Ellijay, we took Hwy 52, and at Chatsworth too Hwy 225 North to finish out loop.
